Back in the Saddle with Fresh Orange Pork Tenderloin

Well, renovating the house is proceeding.  I had hoped that rebuilding the kitchen would move as quickly as demolishing it, but not so.  We have moved down stairs into the old first floor apartment.  I am using the new kitchen, but it needs to be painted and some more trim work.  I have decided to start posting again, although I cannot find the cable that easily connect my camera to my computer.  Moving and putting half of our things in storage has been challenging.

Last night I served the fresh orange pork tenderloin for French Fridays with Dorie.  I almost didn't make it.  I am quite happily married to a man who will eat no fruit combined with meat.  While pork and apples make me gleeful, he doesn't understand it.  I was pretty sure that he wouldn't enjoy this.  It was easy meal.  Pork tenderloin was browned and simmered in a sauce of onions, oranges and cardamon.  I served it with rice and green beans.  Everyone enjoyed it.  Even my husband.  It isn't a meal that I will make again but it was fun to be back in the saddle.  I'm going to do some catching up.

  1. Welcome back and I hope you try to post each week if you can. I wish for your return, this would have been a WOW recipe but, regrettably, it wasn't. Even Dorie cannot make everything a winner. I think one of the most stressful things to do is to live in a house while it is being renovated. Nothing is ever where it's supposed to be or where you put it last time. And, having areas that are almost but not quite done is difficult. May order be restored soon.....for everyone's sake.

  2. Everyone enjoyed it even the husband who shouldn't have! but you won't make it again ... well we are odd aren't we sometimes. Then there are the things I'm so in love with and yet there are so many new recipes yet to try that I just don't make it back ;-)

So happy to see you back! Really like the look and color of the freshly painted house. Kitchen not quite done ... oh I certainly can relate to that. The joys of crockpots and panini grills!

    1. I think we enjoyed it because everyone was home for dinner at the same time and the conversation was good and the week was over. But there are ways that I prefer to cook pork.

  3. I'm also married to a man who won't eat fruit with meat. He won't eat fruit with chocolate either. He'll only eat fruit as fruit. It can be challenging. For this dish, I just served him pork without any sauce over it, though it was cooked in the orange sauce. He didn't complain (much). Hope your renovation is over soon. I've lived through many such projects and the stress is over the top...

    1. We are converting a first floor apartment into a regular first floor, every room needed something. It should be over soon.

  4. The men in our worlds all have their quirks when it comes to food, don't they?
Wishing you the best on your rennovation. I remember one particularly painful summer when my children were very small and we decided to rip out the ENTIRE kitchen and downstairs (only) bathroom. Hang in there!

  6. Yeah. I get it. I'm not really a fruit with meat guy either. I loathe fruit and duck most especially but everyone wants to put fruit and dried fruits with pork too. Not my thing. This was a bit better though. I think citrus deserves a certain pass on the rule. And I liked it. Not loved...liked.

  7. Great to have you back and kudos for knocking out this recipe with the kitchen reno and camera issues. I can often barely get the FF recipe done and I have no good excuses (worse yet, Nana even provides me some ingredients :) Great job and glad all enjoyed it.
