he Modern Baker challenge has begun and I decided to skip the first recipe in the book and move on the chocolate spice bread. I will be skipping recipes this challenge. My family lacks a sweet tooth. Or perhaps they have a very defined sweet tooth. There are a lot of things that they just won't eat. Dessert is not really something they enjoy.
However, this chocolate spice bread was just up their alley. Who doesn't love a quick bread? Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl. Flour, cocoa, baking powder, salt and cinnamon and stir. In another bowl, whisk some eggs, add some sugar and brown sugar, add some melted butter and sour cream and then add the dry ingedients.
Put the mixture into a bread pan and cook until a knife comes out clean.
I served this with strawberries and whipped cream. This was quick and easy, a good recipe to have when you find out unexpected company is on their way. It made a delightful dessert, which prompted Emily to ask why is this a bread and not a cake????
That does sound good. We have a huge sweet tooth over here!
ReplyDeleteThis looks lovely. Strawberries and whipped cream could go over very well here...I have some left, so guess that will be today's dessert. I made half a recipe in little mini loaves and they baked for about 20 minutes...perfect...going to do that halving of recipe a lot with this challenge just b/c they can only eat so much and I belong to several groups already. Your bread looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI considered joining but after reading the book, there are only a few recipes that appealed to me, one is the Punch Cookies because they look so pretty in pink.
ReplyDeleteYour quick bread is beautiful and sounds delicious.
