The Bread Baking Babes are entering their third year. Karen at
Bake My Day chose Ensaimadas. They are a sweet, rolled dough maybe filled with a little surprise. Head over to her link for the recipe.
She posted a link to a
you tube video on how to roll the ensaimdasas. I watched the video, once again wondering why I didn't study Spanish instead of French. At one point the baker is explaining what he is filling them with and listing some other options. I heard chocolate, really nice how you can understand that word in so many languages.
I filled half of them with Nutella and half with butter, cinnamon and sugar. They are light, delicious treat.
Those are pretty, and they sound delightful!
ReplyDeleteAnne,
ReplyDeleteThose look incredibly good! And the fact that your mom was a French teacher probably had something to do with the French...
I drool at your blog.
Kath
Aaahh Nutella! Ssst.. my kids may hear you! They look great Anne Marie, thanks for baking with us, your badge is on its way.
ReplyDeleteKath Do you remember when she put the french translation on everything in the house? Emily is taking them in to give to kids in her French class.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I love your fillings, next time I will do the same.
ReplyDeleteThanks for baking with us!
Thanks everyone, these were delicious. A fun, quick bread.
ReplyDeleteAnne, I don't remember the french translation on everything in the house, but I can imagine it! We never had anything so good in French class! Emily and her classmates are lucky!!
ReplyDeleteI can still visualize your mom doing matrices at the front of the room, and taking us to the math competition in Hazelton. Still my favorite high school teacher ever!!
o yes with nutella, there's nothing wrong with that, have to try that next time! Thanks for baking with us.
ReplyDeleteAh...I see that pork lard is included in the ingredients. I know for a fact that was my mom's secret ingredient in all of her bread recipes.
ReplyDeleteThese looks delicious Anne Marie!
Oh for the love of all things, C H O C O L A T E!
ReplyDeleteI loved the video and now I have a new technique for filled doughs. Muchas gracias, Senorita!!!
They are really most lovely aren't they! hehe and then chocolate, that's just about right! Have to try that too!
ReplyDeleteYou would make someone choose between Nutella and cinnamon sugar? I'll take one of each please! They look seriously yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love the video, I don't know if I have ever rolled dough out that thin. Chocolate is always delightful, but I enjoyed the cinnamon.
ReplyDeleteNutella filling - what a great idea. I made cinnamon-sugar ones, but Nutella would have been fantastic, too.
